Tubing into January

My first ever blog entry. Hello to you all (that is even if I have any readers). A little about myself. I'm Berkeley student majoring in Economics, and I'm hating every bit of it. I've discovered that Econ just really isn't "me," but I'm going to stick with it until I graduate. I do not have definite plans for after I graduate, but I'm pretty sure that I want to go to a beauty/esthetician school so that I can become a certified esthetician. I think it'd be pretty great to open my own spa-like place in my hometown of Bakersfield, because we are so lacking luxuries like that! Before I do that, I'm thinking about teaching English in Korea. I think it'd be fun and a rewarding experience. It'd be my first real job and be my first time to really be independent. I live a pretty sheltered life so it could be a really great thing for me. But we'll see what happens from here. I love television, movies, shopping, premium denim, and everything skincare. This blog will focus on these likes and I hope to write about 2-3 times a week, or whenever I get a chance. Enjoy!

The writer's strike is really affecting television. Reruns of primetime shows and the new onslaught of reality television series aren't beckoning me over to the couch. I was never a Dancing With the Stars fan, and now abc is coming out with Dance Wars? C'mon! Gimme a break! And another season of American Idol? Puh-lease! Admist the strike, there have been some new episodes of some of my favorite TV series. I happened to find out surfing the Web, so for those who do not know about this, give your favorite TV network's website a look. A new episode of Desperate Housewives aired this month as well as three new episodes of Ugly Betty. Among others are Brothers & Sisters, Notes from the Underbelly, and probably my personal favorite, Chuck.

I don't know if many of you have heard of Chuck. I saw it on nbc.com's website several months ago. I was bored, had nothing else to watch and decided I'd give Chuck a try. I loved it and now I have my boyfriend hooked as well. It's about a guy named Chuck Bartowsky, your normal average Joe. He got kicked out of college, lives with his sister and her boyfriend, and works at a Buy More (our equivalent to Best Buy). He gets a mysterious e-mail from his ex-best friend and before he knows it, Chuck finds himself trapped in the middle of the spy world. Okay. So the general plot seems outrageous and lame, but really, it is one of the funniest TV shows of the year. Give it a try if you haven't already.
